best of '08: girl talk (music)
Gregg Gillis A.K.A Girl Talk, is an American musician born October 26, 1981. Girl Talk released the album Feed the Animals , a wired favorite, made up from more tan 300 samples which i find to be a masterpiece taken the fact that he composes music with samples instead of notes or sounds. It kept company for the better part of 2008 and looks like it's going to be there for 2009 as well. I think it's the best think i discovered in 2008.
Gillis also holds a big part in the upcoming, first open source as it claims, documentary "RiP: A remix manifesto", where web activist and filmmaker Brett Gaylor explores issues of copyright in the information age, mashing up the media landscape of the 20th century and shattering the wall between users and producers.
Gillis, who lives in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, has released four LPs on Illegal Art and EPs on 333 and 12 Apostles.
